Fixie bikes from Drag – Easy to maintain and fast to ride

2 minute read

Fixie велосипеди от Drag – Лесни за поддръжка и бързи за каране

The best part of riding a fixie is the experience. Those rides on wet asphalt, when we lock the pedals and the bike starts to "drift"… it's like listening to "Stereo" music… irreplaceable. The fixie gives us this special connection between the rider and the bike, as if they are one whole. Riding it, we get used to changing the direction of movement instead of the speed. The direct "feedback" from the feeling of the pedals gives us exceptional precision and control over the bike. Undoubtedly, this type of bike is the fastest means of getting around the city for the simple reason that they have no brakes. A major advantage of the fixie is that it is very simple, which makes it easy to maintain. And that means you will visit your "favorite" mechanic much less often. It is light and also more convenient when we need to go up or down stairs.

A serious advantage over other models is the lack of parts to steal. An unsuspecting thief most likely won't make it to the end of the block before falling.

Riding a fixie like the Drag Stereo is a lot of fun. At times it can be a bit "annoying" due to the great interest and endless questions from passersby.

The history of the fixie model from DRAG – Stereo dates back to 2014. That year, DRAG released their first bikes with a fixed hub, or so-called fixies. These are the Stereo and One models. Their difference from other bikes is that they have no gears or brakes and have a fixed gear. This means that when the bike is moving, the pedals turn constantly, and to stop the bike, the pedals must stop turning. The fixie is the successor of bikes designed for track riding – velodrome bikes. Initially, they gained popularity in the USA years ago among courier delivery riders.

The Stereo model has a HiTen Steel frame and is available in two sizes, 520mm and 550mm respectively. The total weight of the bike is about 11kg, making it lighter than a mountain bike and classic city bikes. The components on the bike are from the COX brand and are specially selected to match the bike's design. The rear hub is Flip Flop, which means it has sprockets on both sides – one fixed and the other freewheel, allowing brakes to be mounted. Its tires are specially designed for our infrastructure and provide a smoother ride due to their larger volume, and they have reflective strips for safety during night riding.

The beauty One can now be found in new colors – electric orange, electric green, gray with orange, and blue with white, 2018 models. This is a modern execution of a fixie bike with a lightweight aluminum frame and a Flip-Flop hub that allows you to choose between a fixed gear or a freewheel sprocket.

Oh yes, and the "trendy" design will definitely make you stand out from the crowd in the big city.
