For children in need, when purchasing a DRAG Hardy bicycle, you make a donation
From 01.02.2018, when purchasing a bicycle from the limited edition “DRAG Hardy JR” series, you have the opportunity to become a benefactor of the “Cedar” Foundation. The foundation provides 24-hour individual care for 70 children and young people in disadvantaged situations and professional support for 35 young people and their families in the cities of Kyustendil and Kazanlak. The majority of the children and young people in the foundation’s centers have varying degrees of intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
These people have a constant need for care, therapy, and love. The “Cedar” Foundation provides all of this, and by participating in this campaign, you also become part of this good cause.
By purchasing a bicycle from the limited edition “DRAG Hardy JR” series, you donate 5 BGN. “Velomania” Ltd. - the manufacturer of DRAG bicycles - doubles this amount, and the total donation per purchased bicycle amounts to 15 BGN.
The funds raised will be used for therapeutic care for children and young people with severe physical disabilities. With your support, the foundation will ensure the best possible quality of life for children with complex disabilities.
The funds and a report on the campaign will be provided at the end of May 2018, when a DRAG team will visit the house in Kazanlak and introduce the children to cycling. All benefactors are invited to attend the event.
About the “Cedar” Foundation
The “Cedar” Foundation is a Bulgarian non-governmental organization that works to change state policies and public attitudes towards people in disadvantaged situations. In 2010, the foundation successfully closed the Home for Children with Intellectual Disabilities in the village of Gorna Koznitsa and provided alternative quality care in a family-like environment for all 58 children. In the following years, “Cedar” contributed to the closure of 12 more state homes.
Currently, the “Cedar” Foundation manages 9 social services in the cities of Kyustendil and Kazanlak, where it provides 24-hour individual care for 70 children and young people in disadvantaged situations and professional support for 35 young people and their families. The majority of the children and young people in the foundation’s centers have varying degrees of intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
About the need for physiotherapy
Thirteen of the children and young people living in the family-type centers of the “Cedar” Foundation in Kyustendil and Kazanlak have severe physical disabilities. Their diagnoses are varied and often complex – spina bifida, cerebral palsy, spastic quadriparesis, epilepsy, muscle hypertrophy, and others. To ensure a painless daily life for the children, the possibility of optimal mobility, outdoor walks, and socialization, the “Cedar” Foundation provides regular sessions with a rehabilitation specialist for each of the 13 children.
The financial resources needed to provide physiotherapy sessions for the 13 children and young people amount to 720 BGN per month or 8640 BGN per year. More information about the “Cedar” Foundation can be found at www.Cedarfoundation.org
About DRAG Hardy bicycles
A lightweight yet sturdy mountain bike with an aluminum frame and a specific KidFit design for children. It is equipped with Shimano gears and a suspension fork that absorbs hand vibrations. The 20-inch size is suitable for children with a height from 117 to 130 cm (6 - 9 years old), and the 24-inch size for children with a height from 130 to 160 cm (9 - 12 years old).
For 2018, a limited series of DRAG HARDY bicycles with reversed lettering was produced. When purchasing such a bicycle, every donor receives a special sticker and a silicone wristband.
